ARF supports the foster program at The City of Mobile Animal Services
Foster programs are key elements of successful animal welfare in any community because they extend the capacity of local shelters. In fact, fostering is the preferred way to house homeless pets because it reduces stress, exposes animals to less illness and helps learn valuable information about the pet!
Get involved by signing up to foster with Animal Services!
Help us keep the foster closet stocked! Many people have time and love to spare but not the funds for the extra supplies for another pet. Providing kennels, food and other supplies helps more people in our community join the foster program! Items on the wishlist will ship directly to the shelter. We update this list regularly based on supply needs.
A little history....
When the 2021 hurricane season forced ARF to finally close our modest shelter on Rangeline Rd., it also presented the opportunity to rethink our role in the community. We jumped at the opportunity to partner with the City of Mobile as they also reinvigorated their shelter and operations launching The City of Mobile Animal Services.
Since then, ARF has partnered closely with Animal Services to provide the supplies and support necessary to build a robust foster program. This included recruiting our former fosters to their program and continuing to use our platform to recruit new volunteers, transferring the holiday foster program to the city shelter and supporting its implementation and fundraising for supplies needed for the foster program.
